Initially, I didn't believe this was true. A friend told me about two "hidden" red keys on a dollar bill. He handed me the dollar bill and told me to find them. Of course there were no red keys. He then wagered $5 that he could show me two hidden red keys that were part of the dollar bill. I hesitated but my curiosity got the better of me and I agreed to the wager.
I'm glad I did.
He took out a small plastic bottle, of the type that normally holds Visine eye drops but this contained vinegar.
He sprayed the area to the left of George Washington's head and said we had to wait. After what seemed a very long time (actually, just three minutes) two red keys appeared! After about thirty seconds, they faded back to invisibility.
My friend gave his word that he had not doctored the bill with the keys diagram. He then informed me that approximately 1 in 15 one dollar bills have the hidden keys. There are several theories about "why" they are there, ranging from anti-counterfeit measures to Masonic motivations.
I trust my friend, but I needed to know for sure.
It took me nineteen different bills to find one, but I did.
And now I can wager my own $5 by using this bill over and over.
So far, this one "RK bill" has made me over 183 dollars in bar bets and wagers with fellow magicians who have not heard of The Secret of the Two Red Keys.
I welcome any comments on your search and your wages won.
But please don't ask me to sell you this one. It's mine.
